Bronwen Lewis @ The Rock & Fountain

On Friday the 21st of September I went to the Rock Fountain pub in Newton Mumbles. Performing there that evening was Bronwen Lewis, a local singer whose gigs I've attended previously. Bronwen is a very passionate Welsh performer who displays this during her gigs. She's a big fan of country music, like myself, often incorporating some classic country tunes into her set list. However, if you’re in the mood for something a little different, she will happily oblige and play requests, if she has the backing music. Like most local performers Bronwen has a number of hit songs she likes to play, including; Alanis Morisette - Ironic  Bob Dylan - Make you feel my love Counting crows - Big yellow taxi 4 non-blondes - What's up John Denver - Country road. During the evening there was only small crowd, with an even split of people in their 20's - 30's and middle aged. The Rock and Fountain does not serve food, but it is definitely dog friendly a...

Hakoustic Swansea @ The Hyst

On Friday 14th September I went along to an event that was taking place at The Hyst on Swansea's High Street. (The Hyst) The acts performing on the night included; 1. Marcus Gumms 2. Cory Baker 3. Three Legg'd Mare 4. Laura Benjamin 5. Gwi Jones 6. Natalie Jones 7. Kedma Marcus Gumms started the evening off with his iconic country styled voice, that in m opinion sounds like a combination Willie Nelson and Tony Hadley. Even though he was against the clock with another booking elsewhere fast approaching, he remained ever the professional and delivered a perfect performance. This was the third opportunity I've been lucky enough to see Marcus perform, but even this time he still amazes me with his sets sounding like they've just come out of a Nashville recording studio. If a...
